April F. Leggett is a traveling Critical Care Registered Nurse who recently finished her last contract at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., making a remarkable impact in the field of nursing with her unwavering dedication to patient care and her deep-rooted values of faith, communication, safety, and trust. Bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, April specializes in critical care procedures including Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), External Ventricular Drain (EVD), Central Venous Pressure (CVP) monitoring, and Cardiac Output Index management.
Since earning her Associate in Applied Science in Nursing from Harper College in 2020, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University Northwest in 2022, April has continually pursued excellence in her nursing career. Her educational journey has been marked by numerous accolades, including the Mussell Family Endowed and Wischhusen Scholarships for Excellence, along with the Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Fishing Well Scholarship. These honors reflect her commitment to both academic achievement and leadership in healthcare.
In addition to her clinical expertise, April has honed her skills in responding to critical situations, including cardiac, stroke, and airway emergencies. Her experience in guided ultrasound IV placement and fluoroscopic Dobhoff Tube insertion ensures that her patients receive the best possible care, tailored to their individual needs. April’s experience and training enable her to provide culturally sensitive care to diverse populations, recognizing the importance of understanding each patient’s unique background.
Outside of her nursing career, April serves as a Part-Time Minister and Co-Coordinator of Local Bible Fellowships, showcasing her commitment to faith and community outreach. Her faith is a guiding force in her life, providing her with the strength to remain calm and compassionate in high-pressure situations. This connection allows her to offer holistic care that addresses both the medical and emotional needs of her patients.
