Dr. Oboh-Weilke is a board-certified ophthalmologist who serves patients at her private practice, Consulting Ophthalmologists, LLC, with locations in Waldorf and Hollywood, Maryland. There, she specializes in surgery involving the anterior segment of the eye. This includes the surgical treatment of cataracts, pterygium, as well as all forms of corneal transplantation, including DSEK, DMEK, and traditional penetrating keratoplasty.

Professionally, Dr. Oboh-Weilke serves as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she teaches residents and medical students in ophthalmology. She is also on staff at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Before that, she practiced for 5 years in North Dakota and Minnesota. She was an ophthalmologist with the Dakota Clinic in Fargo and the Associate Medical Director of the North Dakota Eye Bank.

After earning her undergraduate degree from Boston University in 1993, Dr. Oboh-Weilke went on to obtain her medical degree from the Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey in 1997. Upon graduation, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. In addition, she completed her fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery with the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore.

On the subject of the doctor’s many achievements, she is the co-author of a textbook chapter on advanced techniques in ophthalmologic surgery and has published numerous abstracts. What’s more, she is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Oboh-Weilke is a member of the Cornea Society and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. 

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery. 

Outside of work, Dr. Oboh-Weilke enjoys spending time with her husband and children. A resident of Charles County, she also enjoys ballroom dancing, participating in church activities, and traveling. She is fluent in English, French, German, and Yoruba.
