An established vascular and Hepatobiliary surgeon, Dr. Yatawatta has extensive training and experience in vascular diseases as well as liver and gallbladder disease, with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive options. He then went on to further his training by completing a fellowship in vascular surgery and endovascular therapy at Loyola University, and a fellowship in abdominal transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital, as well as two fellowships in advanced hepatobiliary surgery and robotic surgery in Seoul, South Korea.

Furthermore, Dr. Yatawatta graduated with his Master of Vascular Surgery degree from the only such program in the world at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, receiving Merit honors. He also completed a Master of Healthcare Administration degree (MHA) from Colorado State University. He is also a  Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI)

Dr. Yatawatta is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery as well as the European Board of Surgery . The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Dr. Yatawatta is  Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (FEBS), and a Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS).
