Dr. Elias, a board-certified neurointerventional radiologist, serves as the Medical Director of Neurointerventional Surgery and Comprehensive Stroke Center at Metro Health University of Michigan Health in Wyoming, Michigan. His areas of practice include cerebrovascular disease (including stroke), vascular disease of head and neck, tumor embolization, vascular disease of spine, facial pain, spine pain due to compression fractures, and intracranial hypotension.

Alongside his clinical role, he holds an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professorship in Neurointerventional Radiology at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Elias received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He obtained his medical degree with honors from the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. Thereafter, he completed his residency in diagnostic radiology and his fellowships in neuroradiology and neurointerventional radiology at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. 

Upon completion of his fellowship, he was recruited as the Medical Director of Neurointerventional Services at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. During his time at Memorial Medical Center, he successfully achieved Comprehensive Stroke Center certification from the Joint Commission and was subsequently appointed Co-Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center.

The doctor is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and neuroradiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

A senior member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery, Dr. Elias is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American College of Radiology, the American Society of Neuroradiology, the American Heart Association, and the Radiological Society of North America.

With special interests in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke & cerebrovascular diseases, he has authored many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on these topics.

Interventional neuroradiology is a subspecialty within radiology. It also involves catheters and radiology to diagnose and treat neurological conditions and diseases. Neurointerventional radiologists are experts in minimally-invasive treatments, and use imaging equipment to see into the body and guide their procedures.
