An experienced psychiatrist, Dr. Nagra is an attending physician at the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program at the Regional Behavioral Health Center of Excellence at Erie County Medical Center.

The Erie County Medical Center strives to bring compassionate, capable care to the eight counties of Western New York, as well as Southern Ontario, making patient experience their first priority. It is a verified Level 1 Trauma Center and a major teaching facility for the University of Buffalo.

In addition to his clinical practice, he is a staff psychiatrist at the University Psychiatric Practice, as well as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Nagra earned his medical degree at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in India in 1990. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in psychiatry at the Delaware Psychiatric Center of Thomas Jefferson University in 2005, followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Buffalo in 2007.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

Honored for his contributions throughout his career, Dr. Nagra has received commendation for services above and beyond the call of duty in CPEP and the award for Outstanding Contribution to Medical Student Education. Furthermore, he has been inducted into Cambridge Who’s Who, and was the recipient of the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015), On-Time Doctor Award (2015), Outstanding and Dedicated Service (2010), Appreciation Service to the Community Award (2009), Supportive Resident of the Year (2005), and Best Organizer Award (1989).
