In private practice since 1996, Dr. Bowers is the Owner and Medical Director of Innovative Ophthalmology & Innovative Eye Surgery Center. She was the first surgeon in Kentucky to offer bladeless laser cataract surgery and continues to be the region’s most experienced bladeless cataract surgeon.

Located in Paducah, Kentucky, Innovative Eye Surgery Center is a state-of-art surgical facility dedicated to eye surgery. The seamless integration of the clinic and surgery center in one location provides patients with an efficient, convenient, and personalized experience that is unmatched in the region.

In 1999, Dr. Bowers introduced refractive lens surgery technology to Kentucky by implanting Paducah’s first TORIC and MULTIFOCAL intraocular lens implants. She was also the first surgeon in Kentucky to use the LenSx Laser System for Bladeless LASIK. She continues to be an early adopter of refractive surgery technologies and enjoys providing these vision restoring technologies to her patients.

Regarding her educational background, she earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her residency within the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Louisville, where she was Chief Resident and is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor.

With over 25 years of surgical experience, Dr. Bowers attained board certification through the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), which is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, she is also a member of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

Actively supporting research to prevent blindness, Dr. Bowers was honored as one of LaserVision’s Top 100 Surgeons and as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists. Furthermore, she has been repeatedly voted Best Ophthalmologist by the Paducah Sun’s Readers’ Choice5, and has received awards such as the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016), Patients’ Choice Award (2018), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
