Bethany Osborn: A Dedicated Occupational Health Nurse Enhancing Well-Being at Essity

Transforming Healthcare Through Expertise and Commitment

Alabama – Bethany Osborn, RN, an Occupational Health Nurse at Essity in Cherokee, Alabama, is making significant strides in the healthcare field by focusing on the health and wellness of individuals and communities through innovative approaches. Essity, a global frontrunner in hygiene and health, is dedicated to fostering a healthier future through its sustainable products and initiatives.

Bethany obtained her associate’s degree in allied health services from Northwest Shoals Community College and brings nearly two decades of nursing experience to her role. She reflected, “At the start of my journey to become a nurse, I had doubts. Completing Nursing School and passing the NCLEX were some of the toughest challenges I faced. I struggled academically and convinced myself that things were simply harder for me. Early in my career, I worked as a floor nurse in a local hospital with 185 beds. I began my specialty in Oncology, but due to staffing requirements, I was often assigned to various floors. This exposure allowed me to experience Pediatrics, ICU, CCU, Med Surg, and Labor and Delivery. While I enjoyed patient care in the hospital, I felt the need to explore other paths.

It wasn’t until the age of 34 that Bethany was diagnosed with ADHD, which significantly influenced her nursing career. Once I received that diagnosis and the appropriate treatment plan, it was a life-changing experience that enabled me to overcome many challenges. Bethany continues to enhance her knowledge and holds certifications as an Instructor for the American Heart Association, Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist, Occupational Health Nurse, and Legal Nurse Consultant.

Bethany’s journey in Occupational Health began in 2016 when she took on the role of Medical Services Manager for Constellium in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, serving an employee population of 1,200. During this time, she established an onsite Medical Clinic focused on the workforce’s needs, promoting total health and well-being. This initiative ensured the highest safety standards for employees working for one of the largest global contributors in aluminum manufacturing and recycling, and it was here that Bethany’s passion for Occupational Health truly took root.

From August 2015 to January 2021, Bethany also worked part-time as a Home Health Nurse for Shoals Home Healthcare in Florence, Alabama. This role allowed her to maintain proficiency in nursing procedures, wound care, chronic disease management, IV therapy, utilization review, informatics, and Telehealth. Bethany stated, “These essential skills as a nurse are invaluable, no matter where you are in your career.” She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a home health nurse, as it allowed her to provide care to patients of diverse ages, cultures, religious beliefs, and educational backgrounds. The knowledge and insights gained from each patient will remain with her throughout her nursing career.

In 2020, Bethany returned to the field as a Case Manager specializing in Workers’ Compensation, assisting industries and municipalities in North Alabama. She utilized her extensive nursing experience and her ability to navigate the healthcare system to promote optimal outcomes for all parties involved. By advocating for the injured workers and preventing a delay of care, an optimal outcome is achieved. The employee is able to regain improvement with less time and return to work full duty.

Bethany attributes her success to her unwavering determination and the strong work ethic instilled in her by her family. “My healthcare journey has been shaped by the values my family taught me—dedication, compassion, and resilience,” she shared. “I strive to incorporate those principles into my work every day, ensuring my patients receive the best care possible.”

As Bethany Osborn continues her journey with Essity, she remains dedicated to enhancing well-being and positively impacting the lives of those she serves. Her commitment to healthcare reflects the values that Essity upholds as an industry leader
