Bianca A. Eze, MSc.: A Soon-to-Be Physician Dedicated to Global Health Equity and Community Empowerment
St. George’s University Medical Student Aims to Advance Dermatology and Health Access in Underserved Populations
Bianca A. Eze, MSc., a graduating fourth-year medical student at St. George’s University School of Medicine, is emerging as a dynamic advocate for equitable healthcare and global community engagement. As a first-generation Nigerian American, Ms. Eze channels her heritage and childhood experiences into action, tackling systemic disparities in health access across both local and international communities.
Ms. Eze’s medical inspiration began during her high school years at North Springs Charter High School, where she earned a Dual Magnet Degree in Performing Arts and STEM with a focus on math and science, particularly calculus and microbiology. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia State University in 2018, graduating with Advanced Honors from the university’s Honors College. The following year, she completed a Master of Science in Biology with a concentration in Applied and Environmental Microbiology, graduating magna cum laude and being named a WomenLead Scholar for her commitment to leadership and service.
These academic milestones, paired with her community-driven values, have shaped Ms. Eze’s long-term vision of creating accessible healthcare systems in underserved regions, particularly in pediatric global medicine. I believe that every child deserves quality healthcare, regardless of their geographical location, she says. My goal is to build hospitals that provide comprehensive care where it is desperately needed.
Throughout her medical journey, Ms. Eze has embraced a wide range of clinical and public service experiences. She volunteered in rural Ghana in 2021 as a medical volunteer and wound care specialist, providing malaria testing and vaccinations. She later assisted in COVID-19 vaccine administration in Grenada home of St. George’s University worked with pediatric patients at Armenia’s Wigmore Women & Children’s Hospital in August 2024. In the U.S., Ms. Eze has served as a mentor through the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), an ambassador with the Skin of Color Community (SOCC), and Associate Director of Equity for FuturePedsRes, leading mentorship initiatives for underrepresented medical
students.
She is also a mixed-media artist and visual storyteller. Her piece Let Me Explain: A Visual on Modern-Day Medicine was recently featured at the 2025 Student National Medical Association’s Annual Medical Education Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The installation explores identity, health inequities, and resilience through five uniquely crafted mannequin heads, incorporating over a dozen materials, including pill capsules, syringes, and acrylic paint.
Now based in Los Angeles, Ms. Eze previously led the Health and Wellness Committee for Umu Igbo Unite LA, designing community-centered events such as breast cancer awareness workouts and youth field days to promote holistic wellness within the Igbo diaspora. She remains deeply committed to improving public health in both Los Angeles and her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
With a strong interest in dermatology, family medicine, and global health, Ms. Eze emphasizes the importance of preventive care, routine screenings, and culturally competent patient education. Her patient-centered philosophy not only addresses immediate concerns but also advocates for long-term wellness through lifestyle coaching, community outreach, and health literacy.
Ms. Eze actively participates in initiatives that combat misinformation about medical conditions in the media, ensuring patients and the public receive accurate, inclusive, and timely health information. She is a proud member of the American Medical Student Association, the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA), GloDERM, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, and the Skin of Color Community.
With residency on the horizon, Ms. Eze plans to take a research and service gap year to further her commitment to global health. During this time, she will continue her dermatologic research focused on Hidradenitis Suppurativa, distinguishing eczema from seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis, and analyzing the role of media in shaping public perceptions of skin diseases while also pursuing her Master of Public Health at St. George’s University.
As she concludes her medical education, Bianca A. Eze stands poised to make a lasting impact across communities and bordersblending science, service, and storytelling in pursuit of a more just and compassionate healthcare system.
