Dr. Chastant is a board certified otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon practicing at Acadian Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery Center in Lafayette, Louisiana, which he established in 1988. A Professor in the ENT Department of LSU Medical School, Dr. Chastant is the founder and director of the only certified allergy lab in the State of Louisiana. He performs both cosmetic and medical surgery, including surgery for head and neck cancer, and also provides nonsurgical cosmetic treatments. 

Dr. Chastant received his medical degree from LSU Health Science Center of New Orleans in 1983. He then completed a 5-year residency program consisting of General Surgery (1983 – 1985)  and Otolaryngology (1985 – 1988) at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. Dr. Chastant commenced his career in Medicine as a Certified Respiratory Therapist and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana of Lafayette.

Dr. Chastant attained board certification in otolaryngology from the American Board of Otolaryngology-head and Neck Surgery. The American Board of Otolaryngology is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships, and has offered training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.

Otolaryngology is a medical specialty which is focused on the ears, nose, and throat. It is also called otolaryngology-head and neck surgery because specialists are trained in both medicine and surgery. An otolaryngologist is often called an ear, nose, and throat doctor, or an ENT for short.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow (FAAO-HNS) of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Chastant is licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana. He is affiliated with Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics, and Lafayette General Surgical Hospital (Lafayette, Louisiana) and Our Lady of the Angels Hospital (Bogalusa, Louisiana).

Among his many achievements, Dr. Chastant has been the founder and director for the Otolaryngology Residency Program at UHC Lafayette since it was opened in 1990. Moreover, he was the first surgeon in the Lafayette area to perform endoscopic sinus surgery as well as the first surgeon to perform an open rhinoplasty. A pioneer of frontal sinus stents, he performed his first medicated stent procedure in 2012 at Lafayette General Surgical Hospital earning recognition as the first procedure in the history of Louisiana Medicine to be an innovative success.
