Brianne Jeske, BSN, RN, Registered Nurse with Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point

Get to know Registered Nurse Brianne Jeske, who serves patients in Hudson, Florida.

Brianne is a registered nurse who works within the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, Florida.

Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is a full-service, emergency care hospital specializing in heart & vascular care. Over the years, the hospital has earned a reputation for providing compassionate and innovative care to those in need.

Brianne started off on the general surgery-medical/telemetry floor at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Myers, Florida. After establishing her basic nursing skills, she ended up moving up to Hudson, where she got a job at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Although she was expecting to get another job on a medical/telemetry floor, she was offered and able to accept a position on their Progressive Care Unit.

After working there for about a year, she decided that she wanted to increase her knowledge and skills. So, she decided to look once again for a position in one of the hospital’s three ICUs. She had to wait a couple months for an opening; however, there was one for the CVICU. Brianne applied and had an interview with the Director and fell in love with her and the CVICU. From that moment on, she wanted to learn anything and everything she could about the heart.

When asked why she chose a career in nursing, Brianne stated that her family has been pretty involved in the medical field. Her stepmom is a nurse as well, working in labor and delivery, and her dad was an X-ray technician for most of her childhood. She had originally wanted to become a doctor or a teacher when she was a kid but her stepmom steered her in the direction of becoming a registered nurse.

Another contributing factor to her becoming a nurse was that her youngest brother had been diagnosed as a type one diabetic when he was just five years old. Brianne was 10 years old at the time and became really involved in his care, helping him maintain his diabetes and learning all about the disease and how it is treated. In a way, that made her want to be able to do that for other people – to help them understand their diagnosis, what medications they should be taking, and how to best take care of themselves moving forward in life.

After earning her high school diploma from Saugus High School in 2012, Brianne went on to complete her Associate of Science in Nursing degree at Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers in 2015. This was followed by the completion of her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the same educational venue in 2018.

To this day, Brianne attributes her success to constantly pushing herself to move forward and be the best nurse that she can possibly be. Her boyfriend has also helped her a lot, especially throughout her bachelor’s program when she really did not want to complete assignments or keep moving forward. He is always supportive of what she is doing and her future goals.

A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.

“There are many ways to make a difference in the lives of patients and each nurse has a difference of view of what that could be. To me, what makes the biggest difference in patients’ lives is treating them like an actual human. Most times, we just see patients as numbers or lab results or disease and we’re just treating, instead we need to think of the patient as a whole and treat the whole thing with love and care.” as stated by Brianne. She firmly believes that in the long run, treating a patient as a person and making sure that they are involved in their own care is the biggest difference a nurse can make.

On a more personal note, Brianne’s hobbies include yoga and crafts. She is a fan of Disney World, and her favorite movies are Marvel, Star Wars, and Harry Potter.
