Get to know General and Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Candice Chipman, who serves patients throughout the State of Pennsylvania.
An excellent general and bariatric surgeon, Dr. Chipman practices all surgeries in bariatrics and complex revisional bariatric surgery.
Her areas of expertise include bariatric surgery, endoscopic gastric bypass revision, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, gastric bypass surgery, intragastric balloon, laparoscopic gastrectomy, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and SADI-S.

A graduate of Meharry Medical College, Dr. Chipman went on to perform her internship at Atlanta Medical Center. She then completed three residencies at various establishments, including the Morehouse School of Medicine, the Mercer University School of Medicine, and the University of Toledo Medical Center. She followed this up with fellowships in acute care surgery transition to practice at Montefiore Medical Center and a bariatric fellowship at Abington Jefferson Health.
For three years, Dr. Chipman worked in private practice initiating their robotic bariatric surgery program, biliopancreatic diversion and duodenal switch, and major revisional bariatric surgery.
Remaining at the forefront of her challenging specialty, she is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Designated as a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Dr. Chipman is also an active member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the National Medical Association.
