Cara completed her undergraduate degree from the Arizona State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science in 2014, giving her over 5 years of experience in her field. Wanting to further her education she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from her alma mater in 2016. Furthering her training she completed a Speech-Language Pathologist internship with Frank Elementary School as well as the Pediatric Speech-Language Specialists.
To stay up to date in her field, Cara remains a professional member of the American Speech and Hearing Association. She currently practices as a Speech-Language Pathologist with Lexis Preparatory School. When not working, Cara enjoys dog training, drawing, painting, and computer animation.
Speech-Language Pathology is a field of expertise practiced by a clinician known as a speech-language pathologist (SLP), also sometimes referred to as a speech and language therapist or a speech therapist. SLP is considered a “related health profession” along with audiology, optometry, occupational therapy, clinical psychology, physical therapy, and others. SLPs specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders (speech disorders and language disorders), cognitive-communication disorders, voice disorders, and swallowing disorders. SLPs also play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (often in a team with pediatricians and psychologists).
