In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the doctor is board-certified in both interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of heart diseases. The field includes the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, vascular disease, and acquired structural heart disease. An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist with one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease, as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.

With years of experience as an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Reimers specializes in all facets of his specialty, including complex interventional coronary procedures, rotational atherectomy, as well as percutaneous mitral and aortic valvuloplasty.
