A dual board-certified clinical pathologist, Dr. Cerruto joined Associates in Dermatology in 2014 after practicing dermatopathology exclusively in a busy commercial lab for seven years. He brings a solid foundation of experience and expertise in the diagnosis of cutaneous pathology.
Originally from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Dr. Cerruto completed his undergraduate and medical school training at the Universidad Mayor de San Andres (UMSA) with honors. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He also completed two fellowships in surgical oncology/pathology and dermatopathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, under the mentorship of Dr. Clay Cockerell.
With interests in melanoma and soft tissue neoplasms, the doctor is board-certified in anatomic & clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
A Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (FCAP), Dr. Cerruto is an active member of the International Society of Dermatopathology, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and the Lee County Medical Society.

Outside of the office, he enjoys biking, basketball, reading, and spending time with his wife and two children.
