Licensed to practice medicine in Florida and New York, Dr. Montero is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in practice with Total Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He sees patients at the following offices throughout the state of New York: Syosset, Massapequa, Brooklyn, Bronx, Deer Park, and East Meadow.

As part of Total Orthopedics & Sports Medicine hospital affiliations, the doctor remains associated with South Nassau Communities Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, Nassau University Medical Center, and North Shore University Hospital.

Back in 1968, Dr. Montero obtained his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires Faculty of Medicine in Argentina. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his rotating internship at Nassau University Medical Center in 1969, followed by his residency in surgical at Bronx Veterans Administration / City Hospital in 1970. Wanting to further his training, he went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery and his fellowship in hand surgery at Nassau University Medical Center in 1973 and 1974, respectively. 

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

To date, Dr. Montero remains a member of numerous organizations and societies, including the American College of Surgeons (Fellow), the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (Fellow), the International College of Surgeons (Fellow), the American Medical Society, the Nassau County Medical Society, the New York State Medical Society, the New York State Society of Orthopedic Surgeons, th Italian Society for Surgery of Hand, the New York Society for Surgery of Hand, the American Society of Surgery for Hand, the American Association for Surgery of Hand, and the Nassau Academy of Medicine. He is also the recipient of the Physician’s Recognition Award by the American Medical Association (1972).

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
