Dr. Petiet is a licensed psychologist who is currently serving patients at her own private practice located in Berkeley, California. She works with individuals from children through elderly, couples, and families. “My aim is to be helpful with others in the ways they seek, to help people know their true thoughts, feelings, and desires. Dr. Petiet is a Licensed Psychologist in California. She is also a somatic experiencing practitioner (SEP) with post advanced certificates of Touch Skills Training and Eye of the Needle. In addition, she is fully trained in EMDR. Dr. Petiet is a registered nurse (RN)  and is licensed in California. She also serves as an Integrative Healthcare and Mental Healthcare Consultant. Dr. Petiet accompanies people in developing inner attunement to their body, emotions, mind, spirit, and relationships.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Petiet served on the faculty at Rosebridge Graduate School in Concord, California from 1986 to 1994. There, she developed and co-directed the Women’s Specialty Program.

Dr. Petiet is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA). The mission of the APA is to promote the advancement, communication, and application of psychological science and knowledge to benefit society and improve lives.

Dr. Petiet received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in Berkeley, California in 1982. She also received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) at Baylor University in Dallas, Texas in 1975.

Psychology is the science of behavior and mind. It includes the study of conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. As a psychologist, Dr. Petiet’s specialities include treatment of trauma, grief, depression, mood and anxiety disorders, spiritual issues, alcohol and drug abuse, and relationship problems – among others. In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Petiet utilizes hypnosis, sandplay therapy, sports psychology, and wilderness therapy.

Dr. Petiet has led numerous day and week long seminars on a variety of topics including: grief, divorce adjustment, chemical dependency, psychology of women, self-hypnosis, sports psychology techniques for performance enhancement, hope, as well as wilderness therapy retreats. Dr. Petiet is a Berkeley winner of the 2015 Patients’ Choice Awards in Psychology. She has also been interviewed for USA Today, and for California & Colorado local newspapers and television news shows.

In 2016, Dr. Petiet released a book titled ‘The Day I Died: Brain Trauma and the Journey Back’. It tells her story as a psychologist and registered nurse who had a catastrophic, near-fatal injury while ski racing with her daughter. It is a riveting story about the trauma and healing of an indomitable woman who shares with readers about how to navigate complex traumas toward full healing.

In her spare time, Dr. Petiet enjoys running, savoring beauty in the world including nature, performing arts, scuba diving, and international foods, traveling the world, and spending time with her friends and family. She is also an expert skier.
