Catherine is a registered nurse & a certified childbirth educator who is retired from practice. During her active years in practice, she was affiliated with Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey & Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, New Jersey.

The Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect the health of women and children. Mountainside Hospital is a community hospital with a university affiliation located in Montclair, New Jersey, United States. The hospital has 365 beds and serves Northeastern Essex County.

In 1993, Catherine earned her nursing degree from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing. Years later, in 2007, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, New Jersey. 

In addition to attaining membership status with the International Society of Addiction Nursing, she is the proud recipient of the March of Dimes Nurse Educator Award.

In her professional experience, Catherine was a nurse educator and coordinator for the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program during her employment at the Central Jersey Family Health Consortium. She has spoken on a local and regional level on topics regarding methadone treatment, maternal/child nursing, perinatal addiction, and postpartum depression. She has also lectured at St. Peters in New Brunswick and at Capital Health in Trenton regarding methadone treatment and its effects. Furthermore, she has had an article on methadone and pregnancy published in Nursing Spectrum and an article regarding postpartum depression published in another medical journal.

A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.

On a more personal note, Catherine is married. She attributes her successful career to the support of her husband who encouraged her to follow her path when she told him that she wanted to become a nurse after having two children. She also credits her phenomenal instructors at Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing for her success in nursing, as well as the wonderful support of her coworkers and supervisors throughout her career. According to Catherine, her education and her colleagues provided her with the foundation and support for her to succeed.
