Dr. Peter Nakaji, a globally recognized figure in neurosurgical, has opened a new neurosurgery private practice based at the Bob Bové Neuroscience Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Respected for his expertise in complex brain surgery, Dr. Nakaji brings more than 20 years of experience, academic leadership, and surgical innovation to patients from across Arizona—and increasingly, from across the country.

Dr. Nakaji is most often able to bring a minimally invasive (keyhole) or endoscopic approach to his patients’ care, which results in smaller incisions, faster recovery, and better cosmetic outcomes.  “I got known for incisions that are hard to find and for not cutting off people’s hair, but really keyhole surgery is much more than that.  It is about being gentle and effective with people’s most precious possession, their brain.”

Throughout his career, Dr. Nakaji has been recognized not only for technical excellence but also for the time and care he gives each patient. “Neurosurgery is never routine to the patient,” he says. “The goal is not just to do an operation well – it is to listen to the patient and make sure it is the right operation for that individual person, someone who feels heard, informed, and well cared for.”
