With more than 35 years of experience to his credit in orthopedics, Dr. Sevilla has found success as the owner of his own practice. In this capacity, he is the Owner of the John Paul II Back and Bone Health Center in Richmond, Texas.

Outside of his primary career efforts, Dr. Sevilla serves as a traveling doctor for the debridement of wounds and performs minor surgeries for patients in short and long term nursing homes. Since 2011, he has also worked with OakBend Medical Center and was previously an independent contractor for Advantage Wound Care’s headquarters and again joined the company in 2022.

Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Sevilla earned a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the School of Medicine at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua at León in 1974. He did six months of social service in the north border of Nicaragua and Honduras as part of the curriculum of the School of Medicine. He was the forensic doctor in the community of Jalapa in Nicaragua at that time.
Thereafter, he did an internship at St. Vincent Hospital in Leon, Nicaragua in 1973. He subsequently completed another internship with St. Francis General Hospital in 1978 to meet the standards of the medical field in the United States and a general surgery residency at the same hospital in 1979. Following this time, he underwent a preceptorship in orthopedic surgery at he underwent a preceptorship in orthopedic surgery at Carl R. Darnell Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas from July 1980 to Dec 1981 and he was called from there to a formal residency in orthopedic surgery at WBAMC in El Paso, Texas from Jan 1982 to Dec 1984. Furthermore, he completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Gaston Episcopal Hospital sponsored by Baylor School of Medicine in 1986.
Before starting his private career, Dr. Sevilla served honorably in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army from 1980 until his honorable discharge in 1986 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve from January 1996 to November 1988. In recognition of his dedicated service, he received a Meritorious Service Medal and an Achievement Medal from the U.S. Army.
Prior to his current roles, Dr. Sevilla began his career in a solo orthopedic practice in 1986, where he remained until 1993. He subsequently continued his private practice associated with the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston from 1995 to 2004. He then acquired a role as an orthopedic surgeon with South Texas Medical Clinic in 2004 until joining a group practice, his own, providing orthopedic and chiropractic services in Sugar Land in 2011, and in Richmond, Texas from 2012 to 2015. While working in these roles, he was also a designated doctor for the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation from 1986 to 2015.
Well qualified in his field, Dr. Sevilla holds a 40-hour certificate in hyperbaric oxygen treatments and is a board certified wound specialist physician through the American Board of Wound Management. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery from 1989 to 2011 and he is enrolled in the Maintance of Certification Program from the ABOS.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery as an Emeritus member, the Texas Medical Association, the Fort Bend Medical Society, and the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care.
Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
Contributing his own research, Dr. Sevilla was published in the American Journal of Orthopedics in 1996. He also published an article in Osteoporosis in the Killeen Herald newspaper on May 12, 1988, and wrote his Doctorate Monograph regarding the Biopsy of the Cervical Lymph Nodes in Hispanic literature in 1974.
Dr. Sevilla has been approved as a subject in the Marquis Who’s Who Publication Board 2022-2023.
