He then served a n internship in general surgery at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, New York (1984 – 1985), followed by a general surgery residency (1985 – 1989) and burn surgery fellowship (1989 – 1990) at Westchester County Medical Center. He eventually completed a plastic surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Medical College and the Lenox Hill Hospital, New York (1990 – 1992), where he served as Chief Resident in Plastic Surgery.
