Christian Salib, MD, a Hematopathologist with the Mount Sinai Health System

Get to know Hematopathologist Dr. Christian Salib, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

A New York-based hematopathologist, Dr. Salib is affiliated with the Mount Sinai Health System, offering his services at Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Brooklyn, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai Morningside, and Mount Sinai West. He specializes in hematopathology, anatomic pathology, and clinical pathology, with experience in clinical cytogenetics and molecular pathology.

Educating others, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Pathology, Molecular and Cell Based Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Salib received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2015. He completed his AP/CP residency training at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center in 2019 and his fellowship in hematopathology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2020.

Licensed to practice medicine in New York, the doctor is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology & hematopathology by the American Board of Pathology. It is one of 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Maintaining professional membership status, Dr. Salib is an active member of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Association of Molecular Pathology, and the American Society of Hematology.

In addition, he holds certifications in Advanced cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association. 

Hematopathology or hemopathology is the study of diseases and disorders affecting and found in blood cells, their production, and any organs and tissues involved in hematopoiesis, such as bone marrow, the spleen, and the thymus. Hematopathologists are highly trained healthcare providers who specialize in diseases of the blood and blood components. These include blood and bone marrow cells. Hematological tests can help diagnose anemia, infection, hemophilia, blood-clotting disorders, and leukemia.

On a more personal note, Dr. Salib is fluent in both English and Arabic.
