Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Christine A. Doyle, who serves the population of California.

Anesthesiologist and critical care specialist Dr. Doyle currently practices with Vituity. Dr. Doyle completed her undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1984. Furthering her education she graduated with her Medical Degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in 1989, giving her over three decades of experience in her field. After obtaining her medical degree she completed her residency in anesthesia and fellowship in critical care medicine from Stanford.

Dr. Doyle is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. The mission of the American Board of Anesthesiology is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.

To stay up to date in her field she is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and has achieved Fellowship in the society (FASA).  She is the incoming President of the California Society of Anesthesiologists, and is very involved in the educational and advocacy activities of the CSA. One of her biggest goals is to educate people about what anesthesiologists actually do, and why you need one if you’re having surgery. She has been a Director and Webmaster for the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists. She also is or has been on several American Society of Anesthesiologists committees, including the Electronic Media and Information Technology (EMIT) Committee (which she chaired for 6 years), the Critical Care Committee, the Trauma and Emergency Preparedness Committee, and the Annual Meeting Subtrack Committee on Critical Care.  She is also involved in Medical Staff Leadership at O’Connor Hospital.

Outside of the medical field, Dr. Doyle and her husband participate with several non-profit organizations in the science fiction community, helping to produce events including Worldcon, the annual convention sponsored by the World Science Fiction Society.  Her roles have predominantly been in the Program Division, including internal video teams (live broadcast and taped productions), podcasting, program development, and speaker development. She was the Program Division Director for Westercon66 (2013) and Worldcon76 in San Jose (2018).  

She has also participated in Masquerades as a contestant, the Emcee’s assistant/prompter, Judge’s clerk, video crew, and Judge. She was the Co-Director of the Masquerade for Worldcon75 in Helsinki, and is the Co-Chair of Costume-Con 39, which will be held in San Jose in 2021.
