A highly trained pediatrician, Dr. Turley is in practice at CMC Myers Park Pediatrics in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also serves as the Vice Chair for Research at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital and a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Atrium Health.

In regards to her educational background, Dr. Turley graduated with her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 1988. She then went on to complete her residency in pediatrics at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System in 1991.

Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

An avid researcher, her 2 decades of research on vaccine efficacy and side effects has been funded by several renowned organizations, including the NIH, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the CDC and vaccine manufacturers. She has also been involved with research on environmental influences on child health outcomes, including neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, understudied drugs in children, childhood obesity and digital media use by children. Additionally, she has conducted research on the epidemiology of pediatric diabetes.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Among her most notable achievements, Dr. Turley received the Learning Health System Champion Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges. She also received special recognition in honor of extraordinary work in H1N1 influenza (swine flu) research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. She has been awarded Most Dedicated Physician by St. Vincent’s House Free Clinic.
