He completed his infectious disease fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. Koirala at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. Thereafter, he practiced as a hospitalist at Mercy Hospital Washington in Washington, Missouri, and at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.

In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Quarshie remains a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, and the Texas Medical Association.

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with the diagnosis, control, and treatment of infections. An infectious disease specialist’s practice may consist largely of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections or it may be out-patient based. 

Passionate about world health, Dr. Quarshie has been on multiple medical trips to Africa and Asia, where he provides free healthcare to patients in hospitals and clinics. In Ghana, he had the opportunity to work with HardtHaven Children’s Home, which was established in 2007 to provide a safe home in Ghana for HIV/AIDS victims and children in extreme need for care. He has also had the chance to travel to remote villages to provide healthcare. 

In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports such as soccer and basketball, lifting weights, and traveling internationally. The most important thing in his travels is food, seeing as how he is a foodie. His objective is to learn and grow as a person.
