Claudio S. Lehmann, MD, is a Rheumatologist within the Medical Clinic of North Texas, and is affiliated with Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, Baylor All Saints Fort Worth and Plaza Medical Center. Dr. Claudio S. Lehmann is a vastly experienced rheumatologist, having been in practice for five decades. He worked for many years in Fort Worth in Rheumatology solo practice, and later joined the Medical Clinic of North Texas that became USMD, from which he retired in December 2016. His long and successful medical career began in 1963, when he graduated from the University of Chile in Santiago, Chile. After an internship and residency at San Juan de Dios Hospital he also practiced internal medicine in southern Chile in a community hospital as part of his training. He later worked in the Jose Joaquin Aguirre University of Chile Hospital teaching and doing research. Dr. Lehmann moved to the United States in 1972 and did residency in internal medicine at the Dallas VA and later a fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. Lehmann has a reputation as an expert in Rheumatology, and he diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions. These include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory arthritis, systemic lupus. ankylosing spondylitis, chronic neck and back pain, fibromyalgia, gout and unusual connective tissue disease such as vasculitis. He has also worked as an in patient consultant treating hospitalized difficult cases. He has done some office procedures including joint aspiration and injection and trigger point injections for achy muscles. He worked in rheumatology clinics and taught house staff physicians at the JPS county hospital for several years, and trained several Rheumatology fellows for the UNT Medical School.
A rheumatologist is an internist or pediatrician who received further training in the diagnosis (detection) and treatment of musculoskeletal disease and systemic autoimmune conditions commonly referred to as rheumatic diseases.
