Dr. Minimo is a board-certified pathologist, he is the Chairman of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Einstein Medical Center – Jefferson Health in Philadelphia.

A native of Italy, Dr. Minimo graduated with his medical degree from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome in 1986. In 1991 he moved to the United States where spent a few years in researching on developing computer assisted pathology diagnosis, in 1996, he started his training in pathology at Thomas Jefferson University, followed by two fellowships in cytopathology and oncologic pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering and a fellowship in dermatopathology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology, Dr. Minimo is board-certified in anatomic & clinical pathology, cytopathology, and dermatopathology.

Holding fellowship status, he is a member of the College of American Pathologists.

Pathology is a branch of medical science that involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of surgically removed organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and the whole body. Pathologists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and management of diseases by laboratory methods.

Dr Minimo says of himself: “I enjoy being directly involved in the patient’s management not only through my interpretation of laboratory tests, but also as a consultant and educator to my colleagues clinicians, and physicians in training. I have the privilege of being a “doctor’s doctor”.

Dr. Minimo is actively involved in patients’ management by providing his colleague surgeons recommendations for the optimal site and type of biopsies on the bases of his clinical evaluation of the patients.

In 2019, Dr. Minimo was presented with the Humanitarian Award from Filitalia International for his humanitarian service to the Italian-American Community in Philadelphia. He was nominated for this award by the many grateful Italian young men and women whom he has helped over the years begin new lives and careers in the United States.

He has donated his time, experience, and resources to help those in the Italian diaspora who wish to embark on such journeys, primarily in the fields of science, technology, and the arts.

He recognizes from his own journey the challenges faced by young people working towards achieving their goals in a new country. His sole reward consists of seeing others also realize their dreams.
