It was through his example that I became the man I am today”, states Dr. Hollowell.
Upon the completion of his training, Dr. Hollowell attained board certification in urology through the American Board of Urology. The mission of the American Board of Urology is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to insure the delivery of high quality, safe and ethical urologic care.

Over the years, Dr. Hollowell has been granted numerous awards and recognitions, including the 1995 James Scholar Award at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, the 1999 American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Minority Scholar in Cancer Research Award, the 2000 John D. Silbar Award from the North Central Section of the American Urological Association, the 2008 Humanitarian in Healthcare Award from Cook County Bureau of Health, the 2013 Vincent J. O’Conor Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching Award from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Moreover, he was named Doctor of the Year by Cook County Health and Hospital System (2018) and was the 2014 Twenty Eight Men of Change Honoree with BET Network. In 2011, he served as President of the Chicago Urological Society and is now the President Elect of the Illinois State Urological Society. With a strong emphasis on compassionate and comprehensive patient care, Dr. Hollowell attained the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) having met the standards and guidelines required of the nation’s leading surgeons.
