Get to know Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Crystal S. Owen, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Crystal is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in family and geriatic medicine. She is in practice with Partners in Primary Care in Houston, Texas.

Partners in Primary Care is a primary care medical group practice operating centers in Texas, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, and South Carolina. It has a strong emphasis on senior-focused primary care, focusing on getting individuals living well today and for years to come.

“You deserve to feel as welcome and comfortable as possible when you’re sick, injured, or simply maintaining your health. And you deserve respect — for your time, your schedule, and your vision for your own health. At Partners in Primary Care we’re not just concerned with what brings you here today, we also want to understand if it might be connected to something that could impact you in the future” as stated on their website.

Graduating with her high school diploma from Westwood High School in 1988, Crystal went on to earn her practical nursing degree from Sanford Brown College in 2004. Years later, she obtained her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Metropolitan Community College in 2008, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2012, and her Master of Science in Nursing degree (Family Nurse Practitioner Program) from Simmons College in 2016.

Recognized as a Top Nurse in 2015 and 2020, Crystal is motivated at the start of each day by the idea that she will make a difference in the lives of senior patients and their families. She spends time with them at each individual appointment and strives to establish a trusting relationship.

In practice for over two decades, she attributes her success to her personal tenacity, integrity, and a lot of support from friends. She is a firm believer that nursing chose her, stating “The good Lord directed me to the career I have now.”

To advance her professional efforts, she remains an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the East Texas Nurse Practitioner Association.

A Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) is an advanced practice registered nurse who holds board certification and works autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, to deliver family-focused care. Given the rather broad nature of the “family” patient population focus, FNPs offer a wide range of healthcare services that revolve around the family unit; from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counseling across the lifespan.

On a more personal note, Crystal is married.
