Cynthia Gyamfi-Bannerman, MD: A Leading Perinatologist Specializing in High-Risk Pregnancies

A board-certified perinatologist, Dr. Gyamfi-Bannerman is the Chair and Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Joining UC San Diego in July 2021, she is internationally recognized for her expertise in managing high-risk pregnancies, with a particular focus on preventing preterm birth and utilizing antenatal corticosteroids.
With a robust academic background, she completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and earned her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She also holds a master’s degree in biostatistics, which she pursued during her time at Columbia University.
