Dr. Halpern graduated with his Medical Degree from the Technion University in 2005, giving him over a decade of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he completed his internal medicine residency from the Ichilov – Tel Aviv Medical Center, followed by a second internal medicine residency with the Mount Auburn Hospital. Wanting to further his training he completed his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship with the Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center and an Adult Congestive Heart Disease fellowship with the Children’s Hospital in Boston Massachusetts.
Dr. Halpern is tri certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Adult Congenital Heart Disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Halpern currently practices as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Medicine with the New York University, as well as the Medical Director, for the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program with NYU Langone Health, and practices with the NYU Cardiology Associates.
Congenital heart disease is a type of defect in one or more structures of the heart or blood vessels that occur before birth. The heart structures, or vessels, do not form as they should during pregnancy, while the fetus is developing in the uterus. The most common congenital heart disorders affecting adults are, congenital valve defects, atrial and ventricular septal defects, patent foramen ovale, patent ductus arteriosus, anomalous pulmonary veins, coarctation of the aorta (coa), ebstein anomaly, pulmonary artery stenosis, tetralogy of fallot (tof), transposition of the great arteries (tga), and pulmonary hypertension.
