Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Daniel Dorfman, who serves patients in Canton, Ohio.

Dr. Dorfman is a highly experienced physiatrist with a special interest in non-surgical management of spinal disorders, sports medicine, and industrial rehabilitation. Having been in practice for more than three decades, he sees patients at Omni Orthopaedics in Canton, Ohio.

The board-certified physicians and fellowship-trained specialists at Omni Orthopaedics treat a full range of orthopaedic problems. They keep current on the newest advances in musculoskeletal care, including computer-assisted surgery and minimally invasive procedures. Above all, they are committed to making treatment as easy on patients as possible.

Proficient in administering electrodiagnostic evaluations (EMG/NCV), Dr. Dorfman is the Medical Director for Corvel MCO for the State of Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. He is also affiliated with OASIS Surgery Center, Aultman Hospital, and Mercy Medical Center.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FAAPMR), he is a member of the Stark County Medical Society, the Ohio State Medical Association, the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association, the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation, and the Ohio Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Dorfman obtained his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1985. He followed this with an internship in internal medicine and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical College of Virginia. He then spent seven years on faculty at Case Western University, teaching residents and caring for patients at MetroHealth Medical Center, before moving on to private practice at Omni Orthopaedics.

Providing a multidisciplinary approach to care, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. 

Happily married, Dr. Dorfman and his wife, Linda, enjoy living in the Stark County area. They enjoy bicycling, travelling, looking at art, drinking wine, and exploring the great outdoors.
