Educated in the United States, Dr. Fanney graduated with his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1985. He then went on to perform his residency in diagnostic radiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and his fellowship within the Body Imaging Division of the Department of Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
Throughout his professional career, he has served as an Assistant Instructor in Radiology (July 1988-June 1989), on the Curriculum Committee of the Department of Radiology at the University of Miami School of Medicine (July 1987-June 1989), Director of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine within the Department of Radiology at Chesapeake General Hospital (1990-1997), Radiation Safety Officer within the Department of Radiology at Chesapeake General Hospital (1991-1997), Chairman of the Radiation Safety Committee within the Department of Radiology at Chesapeake General Hospital (1991-1997), Secretary of the Department of Radiology at Chesapeake General Hospital (1990-1997), Quality Assurance Director of the Department of Radiology at Chesapeake General Hospital (1995-1997), and Medical Director / Director of Body & Vascular Imaging at MRI & CT Diagnostics.
Familiar with the standards of care in the area of radiology, Dr. Fanney is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Medical Society of North America.
