Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Daryl R. Sybert, who serves patients in Ohio.

Dr. Sybert is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with OrthoNeuro, treating patients throughout the state of Ohio, including New Albany and Pickerington. He sub-specializes in minimally invasive outpatient spinal surgery and complex adult spinal deformity surgery, having performed more than 12,000 spine surgeries since joining OrthoNeuro in 1994.

OrthoNeuro is a dedicated team of orthopedic and neurologic healthcare professionals committed to providing the highest quality specialty care. They specialize in orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, neurology, podiatry, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, working to help patients regain the means to live their lives to the fullest.

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Sybert has been appointed Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at The Ohio State University and serves in Orthopedic Resident and Medical Student Education. 

Moreover, he serves on the Editorial Board of The Spine Journal, is acting Chairman of The Orthopedic Foundation, serves on the Ohio University Foundation Board of Trustees, performs ongoing clinical research trials to advance the understanding of spinal disorders, as well as holds several patents related to spinal devices which he hopes will one day improve patients’ quality of life. 

After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986, graduating with numerous honors, Dr. Sybert went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Thereafter, he had the privilege to complete a one-year spinal reconstruction fellowship with the esteemed Dr. Arthur D. Steffee at The Cleveland Spine and Arthritis Center. During this time, he worked with numerous international surgeons, including Dr. Kiyoshi Kaneda at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. It was these early experiences that shaped his open-minded, contemporary, and conservative spinal care philosophy.  

A Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, the doctor is board-certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, an organization that provides board certification to qualified DOs who specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. 

Among his numerous accolades, he was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® (2007, 2008, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018), as well as received Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2018) and Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2018).

Orthopedic Surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. Outside of the office, Dr. Sybert enjoys triathlon training and alpine skiing with his family in the Wyoming backcountry. He has finished multiple Full IronMan endurance triathlons.
