An established radiologist, Dr. Buckley is the President of Radiology Medical Group, and has served as the Chief of Radiology at Scripps Mercy Hospital. He has special expertise in all cross-sectional body imaging modalities (ultrasound, computed tomography, and MRI).
In addition, he is accomplished in percutaneous interventional procedures including ultrasound and CT-guided needle biopsy, stereotactic breast biopsy, radiofrequency tumor ablation and imaging-guided drainage procedures. He also has expertise in ultrasound evaluation of venous insufficiency and ultrasound guidance for sclerotherapy of varicose veins.
A native of Minnesota, Dr. Buckley completed medical school at the University of Minnesota, where he was elected into the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha, and graduated summa cum laude from St. Olaf College, where he was elected into Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology and his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he also served as Chief Resident.
As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
Radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a patient. A radiologist is a physician who uses imaging methodologies to diagnose and manage patients and provide therapeutic options.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Buckley is an accomplished violinist. He has served as concertmaster of the La Jolla Symphony for twenty years and is a member of the San Diego chamber music group, Camarada. He also enjoys golf, tennis and visits to the lake in his home state of Minnesota.
