Dr. Doherty Jr. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with UT Physicians Orthopedics in Texas, seeing patients at the Memorial Hermann Orthopedic and Spine Hospital in Bellaire, and the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute in Sugar Land.
Specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery, he performs partial and total joint arthroplasty, and his clinical focus includes both primary and revision hip and knee replacement. As a testament of his continued education, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Professionally, Dr. Doherty Jr. is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
An enthusiastic researcher, he has been actively participating in and publishing research since he was a premedical student in college. His research has been published in scientific textbooks, national peer-reviewed journals, and has been presented at national meetings.
Spending considerable time traveling on medical outreach trips to developing nations, Dr. Doherty Jr. most recently spent time performing surgery in Baghdad, Iraq and San Salvador, El Salvador. Additionally, he spent elective time during residency traveling to Sydney, Australia to complete a mini-fellowship observing the techniques of osseointegration surgery.
