Born in Taiwan and raised in West Windsor, New Jersey, Dr. Lin graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan in 1995. He then went on to earn his Medical Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1999.
After completing his internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Dr. Lin served as a flight surgeon in Korea before returning to Walter Reed Army Medical Center for his residency in orthopaedic surgery. His fellowship at Methodist Hospital in Houston focused on advanced open and arthroscopic techniques for knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip.
Dr. Lin’s experience includes serving as an assistant team physician for professional teams in Houston, such as the Texans, Astros, Rockets, and Dynamo, as well as for Rice University and HISD. He possesses expertise in orthopaedic injuries affecting military personnel, and during his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he received commendation for research on injuries sustained during Operation Enduring Freedom, which was published and presented at national meetings.
Following residency, Dr. Lin served as an orthopaedic surgeon and Chief of the Department of Surgery at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, catering to the active duty, dependent, and retiree population in and around Fort Polk, Louisiana (home of the Joint Readiness Training Center). He was also deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 31st Combat Support Hospital in 2007.
Demonstrating his achievements, Dr. Lin holds the designation of Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
Affiliated with prestigious professional organizations, Dr. Lin is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a candidate member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and as a member of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.
