Dr. Fleece, a board certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, specializes in general pediatrics and the care of premature infants.
Serving as the Chief Medical Information Officer for Temple University Hospital since 2016, Dr. Fleece has played a key role in three hospital Electronic Medical Record (EMR) go-live events. He has also established EMR governance and informatics processes for the health system, overseeing a team of provider support specialists and physician informaticists. His focus extends to operational needs, quality improvement projects, and facilitating data access for stakeholders in operational, academic, and research domains.
A 1993 graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Fleece went on to perform his residency in pediatrics at Tower Health/St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children from 1993 to 1996.
Subsequent to his training, he attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Furthermore, Dr. Fleece is board certified in clinical informatics by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM). The ABPM is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties that issues “certificates of special knowledge” in the specialty of preventive medicine.
Actively involved in teaching medical students, Dr. Fleece holds the position of Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.
