A renowned cardiac electrophysiologist, Dr. Pederson is affiliated with Methodist Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio. An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in clinical cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Pederson practiced on the staff of Wilford Hall from 1990 to 1996 while also serving terms as Director of Electrophysiology and Cardiac Pacing and Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program. He then went on to serve as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Services, as Clinical Instructor at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and as Assistant Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at Wilford Hall. In 1996, he joined Austin Heart, a group cardiology practice, where he practiced as an electrophysiologist until joining Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio in 2002.

Clinical cardiac electrophysiology (also referred to as cardiac electrophysiology, arrhythmia services, or electrophysiology), is a branch of the medical specialty of cardiology and is concerned with the study and treatment of rhythm disorders of the heart. An electrophysiologist is a type of cardiologist. They focus on the heart’s timing, or electrical system, and on diagnosing and treating irregular heartbeats or arrhythmias. They are also qualified to perform special tests of the heart’s electrical system, such as an electrophysiology study or an ablation.
