He then completed his fellowship within the Department of Nephrology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 2002.

That same year, the doctor attained board certification in nephrology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Delivering comprehensive, expert care in collaboration with each of his patients, Dr. Whittman is affiliated with Banner – University Medical Center South, Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy.
