Deborah is a wound, ostomy and continence, and a family nurse practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the medical field. She specializes in wounds, ostomy, incontinence, and lymphedema.
Deborah is currently the CEO and Founder of Valley Wound Healing Center in Modesto, California. Since 1999, the Valley Wound Healing Center has been proudly serving patients with state-of-the-art wound treatments. The mission of the center is to heal and keep patients’ on the road to recovery with preventative education.
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University Stanislaus and a Master of Science in Nursing from California State University Dominguez Hills. She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Phoenix. Deborah volunteers with Relay for Life and the Modesto Gospel Mission. She is also passionate about assisting the nation’s veterans in any capacity both in and out of the medical field.
Deborah is certified through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB). Founded in 1978, the WOCNCB is a not-for-profit professional, international nursing organization certifying over 8,600 registered nurses who are specialists in the field of wound, ostomy, continence, and foot care.
Deborah holds professional memberships with the Wound Healing Society, the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, the American Nurses Association, as well as the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society.
WOCs specialize in assessing and treating skin breakdown and wounds, especially pressure ulcers. They often cross-train in the care of ostomies. Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) are advanced practice registered nurses who work autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to deliver family-focused care. As a WOC and a FNP, Deborah attributes her success to being tenacious and never giving up. Her mother was a nurse who inspired her to become one herself.
