Dr. Blanchard has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry since 2004. She is currently serving patients’ dental needs at Bay Colony Dentistry in Virginia Beach, Virginia. There, she and her experienced staff are dedicated to helping patients’ improve their smiles by offering both cosmetic and restorative dentistry. Dr. Blanchard is committed to meeting all of her patients’ dental needs and goals, as well as helping them to achieve optimal oral health.
Dr. Blanchard graduated with honors from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She then went on to complete her Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Sewell’s Point Dental Clinic in Norfolk, Virginia. She also served as the Dental Department Head on the USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) from 2005 until 2007.
Dr. Blanchard is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Only six percent of dentists have earned their AGD Fellowship. As a FAGD, Dr. Blanchard continues to show strong leadership and dedication in the dental field.
Dr. Blanchard is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Tidewater Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She was named a “Top Dentist” in Virginia Living Magazine from 2010 to 2017. She was also named a “Top Dentist” in Coastal Virginia Magazine in 2016 and 2017.
Dr. Blanchard was commissioned as a Marine Corps Officer in 1984 and later, a Navy Officer in 1987. She served for 14 years on both active duty and in the Reserves before deciding to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. She earned her third commission as a Navy Dental Corps Officer in 2000. Dr. Blanchard’s service as an officer in the Marine Corps has had a significant impact on her career as a dentist, giving her the techniques and skills needed to help her patients overcome their dental fears and receive the care that they need.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. As a general and cosmetic dentist, Dr. Blanchard is skilled in providing basic and preventive procedures, as well as in providing treatments that make the teeth look whiter, brighter, and more natural in appearance. She has the expertise to complete an array of commonly performed dental procedures that are simple or complex in nature. She especially enjoys helping children develop confidence and successful strategies for adapting to dental treatment.
Dr. Blanchard lives in the north end of Virginia Beach with her husband, Robert. They have two grown sons – Michael and David. In her spare time, Dr. Blanchard enjoys reading, running, and cooking.
