An award-winning ocular surgeon, Dr. Visco is the Founder and Medical Director of Eyes of York. She is a pioneer of surgical advancement, being the first female surgeon in the world to perform cataract surgery with the LENSAR Advanced Laser Cataract System. She is also the first in the area to offer all laser LASIK procedures and customized options for cataract surgery.
Within the Eyes of York practice, she offers a comprehensive array of eye services, including refractive cataract surgery, PRELEX surgery, LASIK surgery and Advanced Surface Refractive Surgery. She also provides glaucoma management and treatment as well as dry eye treatment and comprehensive medical eye examinations.
Founding Eyes of York in 1996, Dr. Visco soon after established a free-standing laser center for Laser Vision Correction, and opened York County’s first and only ambulatory surgical center specializing in eye surgery.
Regarding her educational background, she graduated with honors from the University of Delaware Jefferson Medical College in 1991. She then went on to complete her internship with the Christiana Care Health Services, followed by her residency at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 1995. Furthermore, she holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare from the Jack Welch Management Institute, which she earned in 2018.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Visco is a founding member and board member of CEDARS/ASPENS, as well as President of the American College of Eye Surgeons. She is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American College of Eye Surgeons.
As a leading innovator in the field of premium refractive surgery, she is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
In addition to being certified by the ABO, Dr. Visco is among the few elite providers certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery (ABES), performing over 20,000 no stitch cataract surgeries as well as thousands of Laser Vision Correction procedures.
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. In the past, she has been an ASCRS Invited Instructor for the Femtosecond Laser Cataract Skill Transfer Lab, and was an Honoree in Pennsylvania’s 50 Best Women in Business by the Business Journal of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Furthermore, she has also been awarded the Patients’ Choice Award (2013, 2014), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2013).
On a more personal note, Dr. Visco is the oldest of four children and the first physician in her family. She grew up in a lower-middle-class neighborhood in Wilmington, Delaware, and held a minimum of two jobs at a time from age 16 through medical school. She was fortunate to marry her best friend and high school sweetheart three decades ago, with whom she has three children.
