Retired Nephrologist Shifts Focus to Research and Philanthropy
Dr. Ross, a renowned nephrologist who dedicated his career to the care and treatment of kidney-related conditions in Wichita, Kansas, has transitioned to a new chapter in his professional life. Dr. Ross, who practiced at Kansas Nephrology Physicians, is now focusing his attention on research at the Kansas Nephrology Research Institute, conducting pharmaceutical trials in nephrology, general internal medicine, and cardiology.
With a distinguished career spanning decades, he has established himself as an expert in nephrology, specializing in the treatment of kidney stones, chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, polycystic kidney disease, high blood pressure, and more. Additionally, he is a Certified Principal Investigator and an interventional nephrologist at CardioKidneyVascular, where he works on repairing dialysis access when needed.
Education-wise, Dr. Ross’s credentials include a graduate degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1973, followed by an internship and residency at Wesley Medical Center. He completed his fellowship at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine.
Distinguished as a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the American Society of Nephrology (FASN), he is an active member of the American Society of Interventional Nephrology, the Renal Physicians Association, and the American Association of Research Professionals.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Ross is deeply committed to philanthropy. Together with his wife, he supports charitable initiatives in their church, the arts, and the medical institutions where they received their training. He currently serves as the CEO of the Wichita Grand Opera.
Among his various accolades, he was recognized as a Health Hero by the Wichita Business Journal in 2012 and received the Kansas Governor’s Award for the Arts.
Reflecting on his success, Dr. Ross attributes his strong work ethic to his upbringing in a small town in Nebraska, where he learned the value of hard work from a young age.
When not engaged in his professional pursuits, he enjoys vacationing in Los Cabos and pursuing his hobbies of playing the saxophone and piano, as well as singing in the church choir.
