Originally hailing from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Dr. Rapp graduated from the honors program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He then proceeded to earn his Medical Degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, also located in Winston-Salem.
His journey continued with a general surgery internship at Harvard as part of the Beth Israel Deaconess Surgery program. Subsequently, he embarked on his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Michigan State University/Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners, renowned as one of the premier training programs in the field. During this time, Dr. Rapp engaged in various research endeavors, including the development of an innovative antioxidant-based wound treatment currently undergoing investigation.
As a resident, Dr. Rapp held the esteemed role of resident member on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons Quality and Performance Committee for a two-year tenure. His passion for orthopedic care then guided him to complete a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Consistently pushing the boundaries of his work, Dr. Rapp is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
He holds dual board certifications in plastic surgery and surgery of the hand, earning the distinction of being a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.
