This year in 2020, she will complete her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a concentration in International Health, Women’s Health, and Tropical Diseases from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
A Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
In order to stay up to date in her field, Dr. Somaiya remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Harris County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and Physicians for Human Rights.
In honor of her clinical expertise, she has received the Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) designation from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). The COEMIG program recognizes surgeons and facilities that demonstrate an unparalleled commitment and ability to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based gynecology care, as well as proficiency and excellence in performing advanced minimally invasive gynecologic procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery with the DaVinci® system. Not only is Dr. Somaiya COEMIG-certified, she practices at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, which has also earned COEMIG certification.

When she is not caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, road biking, painting, traveling, and gourmet cooking. She also enjoys serving as a mentor to high school and medical school students.
