Psychotherapy: Brief solution focused therapies are “short problem solving” therapies which they are based on a simple model but require the definition of the problem and identification of ineffective solutions (the solutions that become the problem) in order to move towards a resolution. Holistic and integrative therapy involves integrating various elements of different theories to the practice. In addition to traditional talk therapy, holistic therapy may include nontraditional therapies such as guided imagery, yoga, and dietary changes. The key is to use the techniques and psychotherapy tools best suited for a particular client and problem.

Personal: Dr. Thompson chose a career in nursing after discovering that her daughter had Galactosemia,a rare genetic disorder found on newborn screening. Her decision to go into the medical field was from my quest to learn more about this disorder and how to care for her newborn. She attributes her professional success to help people to realize the individual role they play in their own personal health and wellness, and to increase access to healthcare to all people. When she is not working, she enjoys ballroom dancing, gardening, cooking, traveling, interior home design, arts and crafts, and painting.
