Dr. Gore is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is retired from practice and currently living in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He has over 5 decades of experience in his field, having served patients in the State of Wisconsin. He was affiliated with HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital and several other hospitals.
In the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, he was a Clinical Professor from 1980 to 2013, an Associate Clinical Professor from 1973 to 1980, an Assistant Clinical Professor from 1972 to 1973, and Chairman of the Education Committee from 1971 to 1986. Additionally, he excelled as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery from 1969 to 1972.
In 1960, Dr. Gore earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He then went on to complete his internship at Milwaukee County General Hospital, followed by his residency at Marquette University and his fellowship training in biomechanics at the University of California, San Francisco. He also holds a Master of Science degree.
Over the years, he has received a Distinguished Service Award by the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Teacher of the Year Award for Orthopedic Residents at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1977 and 1984, to name a few.
Serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force, Dr. Gore gained experience in general surgery and orthopedic surgery. He has authored two book chapters and has been the primary or secondary author of over 50 scientific publications related to orthopedic surgery. He has also served as a member of the Board of Editors for the Journal of Orthopedic Surgical Techniques from 1985 to 1990 and the Wisconsin Medical Journal from 1998 to 2001. Likewise, he was an editor and producer of an audiovisual production of “Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair” and “The Subvastus Approach for Total Knee Replacement.”
In an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within the healthcare industry, Dr. Gore remains a member of the American Medical Association, the Cervical Spine Research Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and many more medical societies.
Additionally, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
Now retired, Dr. Gore enjoys fly fishing and downhill skiing. He attributes his success to the support of his family, especially his wife, as well as a strong education. His favorite professional publication is the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
