Established in 1972, Chino Valley Medical Center serves a diverse population and incorporates elements of urban, suburban, and rural medicine, offering a wide array of patient services. The hospital has a bustling emergency department, 14 intensive care beds, full radiological and laboratory services, as well as a comprehensive operative suite with separate GI and pain facilities.

“The facility conducts an annual patient safety culture survey to identify any area for improvement. Ultimately, patient safety is our priority and therefore patient care and communication is always at the forefront” as stated by Donna. 

Throughout her extensive career, she has held several roles, including: staff nurse at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington (1959-1960, 1965-1966); office manager at the office of Doctor Paul Nutter, Doctor of Medicine (1960-1964); staff nurse/supervisor at Kootenai Memorial Hospital in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (1966-1967); staff nurse at Douglas Community Hospital in Roseburg, Oregon (1967-1970); staff nurse at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana (1969-1970); staff nurse / nursing supervisor within the emergency room at Community Hospital in Gresham, Oregon (1970-1973); teacher’s aide at Unified School District in Irvine, California (1978-1980); as well as staff/supervisor at Healthcare Medical Center in Tustin, California (1980-1985) and director of nurses (since 1985).

Before embarking on her professional journey, Donna earned her nursing degree from the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in 1959. She then went on to obtain her Bachelor in Health Science degree from the University of Redlands in 1984, followed by her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the same educational venue in 1986. 

Recognized as a certified professional in healthcare quality (CPHQ) and listed as a noteworthy nurse by Marquis Who’s Who, she attributes her success to her love of the nursing field, her desire to help people in their time of need, her ability to provide quality patient care/safety, her interest in continuous education and learning, as well as her strive to make a difference.

A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.

A widow, Donna has two adult children, three adult grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. In her spare time, Donna enjoys reading and playing golf.
