Dr. Avani Patel, a highly respected optometrist and community leader, is transforming the landscape of eye care in Central and Northern California.
A graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry in 2009, she has dedicated her career to delivering exceptional eye care and supporting fellow practitioners in their professional journeys.
Beginning her career as the Managing O.D. at LensCrafters in Arden Fair, Sacramento, Dr. Patel quickly demonstrated her leadership capabilities. Her exceptional performance led to her promotion as the Regional Director of Eyecare with EECA in 2014. In 2018, she took a significant step forward by becoming an affiliated sublease holder and establishing the Patel Vision Group, where she currently serves as Chief Medical Officer. Under her guidance, Patel Vision Group has become synonymous with quality eye care in the region.
Her commitment extends beyond her practice; she actively mentors her peers and plays a vital role in fostering professional growth within the optometric community. As the Regional Mentor Doctor and Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee for Central and Northern California, she is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of care and support among fellow optometrists. Additionally, as co-president of the California LensCrafters Sublease organization (CALCS), she advocates for the interests of sublease practitioners.
Holding membership status, Dr. Patel is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association, the Optometric Advisory Council for EssilorLuxottica, and the Central Valley Optometric Society. Her leadership and involvement in these groups reflect her dedication to advancing the field of optometry.
In her mission to inspire future optometrists, she serves as a preceptor at Western Health Sciences University, providing first-year optometry students with invaluable clinical experience. Her mentorship not only enriches the students’ education but also strengthens the optometric community as a whole.
Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Patel enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two daughters. A self-proclaimed foodie, she relishes in exploring new culinary experiences, as well as engaging in arts and crafts and enjoying family movie nights.
