However, it was a life-altering event—the diagnosis of her son with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 1990—that ignited her true quest for knowledge and healing. This determination led her back to France, where she studied osteopathy at the prestigious British College of Osteopathy and Alternative Therapeutics in Paris under renowned osteopaths such as Phil Beach DO, Andrew Kerr DO, and Phil Tanswell DO. Her comprehensive education included classical osteopathic manual manipulation, along with modalities like cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation..
Armed with her Osteopathic Certification in 1993, Dr. Couturier returned to the United States and delved into the study of craniosacral therapy. Developed by the esteemed John Upledger, DO, at Michigan State University, this gentle touch and cranial manipulation technique proved to be a powerful tool for stress relief, pain alleviation, and holistic healing. Dr. Couturier became a Diplomate Upledger CranioSacral Therapist, closely collaborating with Dr. Upledger at his clinic to support her son’s health.
In 1994, her path intersected with Master Eduardo O’Campo, a transformative encounter that redirected her journey. Master O’Campo introduced her to the study and practice of Medical Qigong, setting her on a path to learn from some of the world’s foremost Qigong Masters. Notable among her mentors are Dame and world renowned Grandmaster Dr. Effie P. Chow Ph.D, the founder of the World Congress on Qigong, Master Binhui He, the developer of Taiji Five-element Qigong, and Dr. Kevin Chen Ph.D, an esteemed Qigong teacher. Dr. Couturier earned her Doctorate from the International Institute of Medical Qigong in 2012 and holds a Doctorate of Medical Qigong (DMQ) from the Western District Medical Qigong Science and Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute.
Just a few months ago, Dr. Couturier was awarded the eminent award of Medical Qigong Master of the Year 2023 by the prestigious 23rd World Congress on Integrative Health: Healing with Peace.

Throughout her journey, she acknowledges the brilliance of her teachers, who are masters and innovators in their respective fields. However, her greatest teacher has been her son, Dorian. Despite doctors predicting a short life for him, he defied the odds and lived a vibrant and joyful life until the age of 31, surrounded by love. Through her relationship with him, Dr. Couturier learned the invaluable lesson that life is precious and fleeting, meant to be embraced and cherished to the fullest.
